ABAzyne Bioscience‘s board of directors announced the appointment of Dr. Howard Timothy Lee Soon, C.M., to the industry advisory committee. Soon is a master winemaker and viticulturist with over 45 years of experience in the industry.

Soon helped shape British Columbia’s wine industry as the founding winemaker of Sandhill Wines and current master winemaker at Vanessa Vineyard. Inducted into the Order of Canada in 2019 and a recipient of over 100 major awards, his expertise in terroir expression and cold hardiness aligns with ABAzyne’s mission to enhance crop resilience. Howard’s credentials, national recognition, industry influence and practical insights will help guide the application of analogs in viticulture.

ABAzyne is a climate smart technology company that has demonstrated benefits in helping protect wine grapes from mid-winter cold events and spring frosts. The company expects its product, ABA Boost, to receive regulatory approval this year, which will enable growers to apply the product post-harvest to provide protection against climate extremes.

“We are excited to have Howard Soon join our team”, said Jerome Konecsni, ABAzyne CEO. “Understanding the industry and its needs is critical for us to ensure we can align our products and services to best serve the growers.”
